Moving my OS from a HDD to my SSD

Hi. So for christmas i got a new SSD. This SSD is going to replace my current HDD with the operating system in it. Here the problem lies; i’m not sure how I’m going to Do that? I’ve heard of two methods, migrating and cloning. Are these the same, or different? and which should i use?

Oh and also, I’m moving EVERYTHING from the current HDD, not just the OS.

My current HDD is a WD 500GB (But I’m only using 211GB of storage on it)

The SSD that’s replacing it is the WD Blue 3D 250GB.

SSD generally suffer greatly with less than 10% free space. You will also burn through the write endurance of remaining NAND cells with so little free space. Just from normal temporary files, CACHEs and Page File.

As for moving everything. Most SSD vendors offer cloning software for free. Get an external USB enclosure, clone the drive, shutdown, swap the drives and boot. You should pickup where you left off. The only difference being the computer is faster.

Yeah, i just decided to to a clean install on Windows on my SSD, and wipe the 500GB one. Btw, getting a 500GB SSD wouldn't have been an option.
