I was wondering if not plugging in a reset switch will kill a motherboard. In a previous question where I asked about my motherboard, I hadn’t plugged in the reset switch and didn’t realize it until after I turned on the pc. I used my old parts with the reset switch plugged in, and it worked. I then tried to see if not plugging in the reset switch would do something to the board, which it did, giving me no video like before. When I plugged it back in, I had no video. I’m just wondering if not plugging in the reset switch kills a board.

Solution

I figured it out. The reset switch does affect the PC. It didn’t kill the board though! Note to self, plug in the reset switch.

I upgraded to ryzen, and I have been having issues with my system not giving video. I know my video card is good because I tested it in another system. I’m also sure it’s is not the cpu, since it doesn’t have bent pins, and it doesn’t seem to have any burns on it. I think it is the motherboard, since I am getting no video when I use it with my gtx 1070, and that it doesn’t light up my led keyboard when I press the keys. I still don’t know how unplugging the reset switch ruined the other board though...

The system has worked, didn’t after assembling the new mobo and cpu. I am using Corsair vengeance ddr4 2666mhz. It’s supported by the mobo. Checked the website. I made sure it is in the correct slots. It’s 16gb
