Recently bought a new mobo and cpu. New mobo is a ASRock B250m HDV and the cpu is an I5 6700k. Plugged in my gpu(Gtx 970) my ram(1 stick 8gb ddr4 viper) and the pc booted normally. Got to in login screen where is asks for my password, and the keyboard/mouse doesn’t work. Both are lit up. I go to BIOS, and both work normally. I have been reading similar threads, and tried all the solutions. I can get the mouse and keyboard to work, if I enable p/s keyboard/mouse in the BIOS. Once I was able to get into the pc, I noticed that my wireless adapter was not being picked up, and tried to plug my my router into my pc(via a normal network cable) the pc doesn’t recognize it’s plugged in with it. Tried to restore to a previous point, but it fails to do so on any backup. Stuck at this point and need help.

new mobo. always do a fresh install of windows. :)

but you will be asked for activation. if you want to get your original windows license from your current windows with your old mobo. please login to your current windows now with a online microsoft account (create one if you dont have one). to do that go to "accounts" and "sign in with microsoft". once youre logged in with your ms account. go back to "accounts" and verify by email to attach your PC to your account.

go to "update & security" and "activation" to make sure your current windows is activated. you can verify that your PC license is attached to your account by going to the browser and view your microsoft account there and go to the devices section.

once all that is...

What operating system do you have? Generally when you buy a new mobo you're suppose to do a clean install of windows to avoid any driver conflicts with the new hardware. Plus I've seen some pretty wonky performance issues when you don't reinstall windows with a new mobo.

once all that is confirmed. get a Media Creation Tool to create your windows installer into usb or dvd iso. install with no product key. once your new installation is done. sign in with your ms account. go to "accounts" to verify by email. restart. go to "update & security" and "activation" and activate. your windows license is transferred successfully.

you can go back to "accounts" and switch to "sign in locally instead". and youre done.

this applies to windows 10 tho. i dont know if the latest win7 have this enabled as well.
