I upgraded my motherboard and cpu to a GIGABYTE z270-hd3 and an i7 7700k cpu.

I was using a Asus z97 and i5 4690.

After installing the new MB and cpu I activated my windows on to this MB. But now when I try to turn off my computer the only thing thing that turns off is my windows. My gpu, motherboard, etc is still running.

I wish I did a complete wipe on my hard drives before I installed these parts.

My problem is:

Computer won’t shut off.

Windows 10 recovery won’t wipe. It says there is a error. So I can’t start from scratch.

I have no clue of the drivers and cpu updated.

The computer runs fine. Just doesn’t turn off.

I don’t know if it is because I am now on a new bios and I Never erased the Asus bios?

Solution
A reset wont fix it because it's not the old system. If youre using the old hdd with windows on it

If you want to make sure it works do a clean install with the dvd / wipe all partitions then start again

this sounds like something to do on your BIOS. have you checked some power related setting? have you also tried to reset the CMOS just in case ( i know its a new board). sounds like a bug in that bios's default.

also try "loading optimized defaults" in your BIOS.

Ok so instead of clicking the “recovery button” and wiping the windows. There was a link at the bottom that said just reinstall Windows.

It deserted my windows which then linked to my new mb. All the other programs were erased from my desktop and files some how.

Now all the new drivers are installing properly.

Also in bios did a override boot on my ssd.

No clue how that worked since I have been trying for hours.
