Hello all.
I've recently purchased a shiny new MSI GTX 1050ti Gaming X GPU, and at the moment, to my chagrin, it's looking more like an expensive paperweight. Here's the rundown.
Having been plugged into the single PCIE slot, with the 6-pin power cable put in, and connected to my Samsung monitor with an HDMI cable, the card's fans spin a little on startup, then stop. The 1050's LEDs are on, which makes me think this isn't power-related, but I'm not certain.
After powering up, I hit the HP splash screen, and it hangs there for a while, until a single beep issues from the mobo, and the screen cuts off. More beeps follow, and the splash screen eventually returns, and then the PC boots almost as normal...however, the resolution is incorrect, the graphics card reports an Error 43 in Windows, and as far as I can tell the PC is using the integrated graphics in lieu of the card for some reason.
System specs:
-OS: Windows 7 64-bit
-BIOS Version: 7.14 (from 2011, have never dared to flash and update...)
-HP Pro 2400 MT case
-CPU: Intel Core I3 @2.70GHz (2nd gen)
-RAM: 6GB DDR3 (Two sticks of unmatched 4GB RAM. I think this could be an issue.)
-MOTHERBOARD: Intel H61 Express chipset
-MONITOR: Samsung S22D300
-PSU: Litepower ATX-450 396W (But I do also have the stock 300W HP PSU that came with the PC)
-GPU: MSI GTX 1050ti Gaming X 4GB
Can ANYONE offer some insight into how to make my GPU more than a way of keeping paper anchored? It's brand new, and from a very reputable supplier, so I'm hoping it isn't a dud.
I'm also aware that the system I'm trying to install it in is somewhat aged, perhaps this is somehow contributing to the problem?
