hey,

is a 8 TB NAS (WD RED) Good for normal PC 24/24 use ?
i know it's NAS but does it realy mather if i use it in a normal pc 24/24 & 7/7 ?

Also , is there something i should know on how to use a NAS HDD ?

Yes, that will work for 24/7 use.

No, there is nothing special you need to do with it.

I wouldn't bother with Gold, unless you are a data centre, before you start down this path, consider what your backup strategy is. Where are you going to back 8TB of data up to?

But Red's in a normal use case is fine.

Don't worry about the backups,
i have a few external HDDs for this.
Is the lifetime of a NAS drive good?
i have now 2 x WD green 3 TB , but one of them is becoming very slow,
because of 4 cameras i use on it to record surveillance ,
for now aprox. 3 years running i think.
The Read&Write speeds are a lot slower because of it.
My other WD Green is still fine.
And do the NAS also use the same formats like Ntfs and all or do it uses other formats?

For that use case the enterprise would be better, but the NAS drive would be better than a green. BUT there are surveillance drives out there, purple I think.
