Hi guys.Today I bought 4Gb ram to upgrade my pc and after playing like 1 hour my whole pc freezes and I have to restart it via pc case.So far I tried resetting the bios through its settings(not via the jumper nor the battery) and updating the gpu driver.I checked with windows memory check and memtest86 for 1 hour and a half and it detected no errors at all.
I'd like to mention that before the upgrade I got no freezes at all.
Specs:
4Gb ram patriot signature line ddr3 1600mhz cl11 1.5v
Gigabyte ga-f2a68hm-s1
Athlon x4 860k
Club radeon 3d 250x 1gb

The memory I bought is exactly the same as the other one.I'd like to add that the hdd LED on the case isn't lit while pc is freezed.
Thanks.

Memory for Athlon x4 860k is DDR3-2133MHz with no overclock. with OC you can go to DDR3-2400MHz.

Adding extra memory is not guaranteed to work. Memory manufacturers guarantee memory in the form it is sold in and NOT by matching up identical part numbers.

When adding extra memory the memory may no longer be able to operate at rated specifications when such combinations are made. Since the old memory was never tested with the new memory there is no guarantee it will work. Since nothing is stopping you from making such combinations, you can do your own compatibility testing to see how such combinations work.

So if I want to upgrade to 8gb ram I need to get one module of 8gb and not 2 of 4gb?
And there is no way I could match my old memory card with a new one?
They are both same model, that's what I don't understand.
I'm sorry,I didn't quite catch your answer.

Later edit:Turns out the new memory was the faulty one.I ran the pc with only the new one in it and it got freezed after one hour of gaming.
