Best Memory choice for my build

Hi toms crew!
I in a little bit of a pickle. I’m deciding to go with either 8gb or 16gb of ddr4 memory. I plan on buying the EVGA 1070ti sc 8gb as well. Would 8gb combined with my GPU be sufficient enough to run games on ultra at 1080p/1440p? Does the GPU memory overflow over or would i be better off buying the 16gb when i can afford it? I plan on playing games like R6 Siege, PUBG, Arma, and maybe some mmo’s. Thanks for any and all advice!

currently, 16gb is the standard for gaming rigs
going to 16gb has many benefits, i assume you know the benefits
and, what do you mean by GPU memory overflow ?

I was referring to if i bought 8gb, and the game required 9, would it use my video card and then pull the extra 1gb from my motherboard? I am probably going to go with 16gb but I’ve read around a lot that 16gb, even in today’s standards, isn’t much more powerful than 8, however I’d rather take advice from people who currently have build and play games regularly
