I have heard that updating BIOS can be very dangerous and might make a motherboard unusable. I will be building a PC soon ( waiting for the last parts to get delivered ) I chose an ASRock B350 Pro4 which will go with a Ryzen 5 1600. When I build my PC do you think I will necessary need to update BIOS? I don't want to ruin my new PC. Thanks in advance!!!

Solution
Build it and if your not having problems with the board or other parts then no need to update the BIOS.

This is right from ASRock.
AMD Ryzen CPU is able to boot up with all BIOS versions. To optimized AMD Ryzen CPU, please update the BIOS to the same as list or later version.

So if you have version P1.30 or higher then nothing to do.

Only update the bios if you have serious problem with the current/old one. Its a classic case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." And windows should auto detect for most of your hardware and download the necessary drivers without you having to do anything.

Updating the BIOS falls into the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" catagory. A BIOS update is only recommended to fix a known problem(will be in the release notes of the BIOS) or gain additional functionality, like support of a new CPU that wasn't out when you bought your motherboard.

General rule is to update BIOS only in case of problems. Note that you don't know what BIOS version will have the board already installed. If it is one of the latest versions, you most likely will not have to do it. But if it is one of first versions, in case of this platform it is highly advisable to do the update.

You really ought to look to a primary source for matters like these instead of random people on the internet if you are so concerned about the things that could go wrong with a BIOS flash.

Straight from the ASRock site:
We don't recommend users to update the BIOS if their system is already running normally

Meaning, you should run your system with the microcode your board shipped with for starters. If you run into issues that methodical troubleshooting can reliably trace back to the version you are currently using, or if some new feature/functionality is added to a future version that you want access to, only then should you look into flashing a new BIOS version.

I'm not 100% sure but I think my motherboard is on BIOS 3.20 right now. Anyways, If there are no issues I won't upgrade and I don't think I will ever need the 3.30 version's new feature. Thank you all for the help, this forum has really helped me a lot for this new build.

I'm not a random person I have been building, repairing, and upgrading PC's for over 15 years.
If you read my post that is exactly what I said.

Did you even read the other answers before you posted?:pfff: NONE recommended a BIOS update unless absolutely necessary.
