I want to upgrade my motherboard so I can put a better cpu in it and have a better pcie slot so my graphics card will run as good as possible.

Solution
Not really. Dell uses OEM parts for their systems and not standard ATX form factors. If you did some modding to the case you could get something like a mATX board in there but that would require drilling and other modifications.

The Optiplex 780 has the potential to run a Q9650, 16GB DDR3 RAM, and a Zotac GTX1050Ti 4GB Mini video card (others don't fit w/o modding). If you want more than that then you need a different computer. You can put a bigger PSU in the Mini Tower, and modify an ITX video card to fit. Avoid newer AMD cards R9-3xx ,285 and up. A little case modding and you could have a GTX 1060 in there. As far as LGA775 Optiplexes go the 780 is as good as it gets.
