CPU running under desired OC Speed

I have 5ghz set in my motherboard BIOS but when im runnning prime 95, CPUID is showing my cpu to be running around 4.5-4.7ghz and sometimes jumps to 5ghz

msi z270 motherboard
i7 7700k
h100i v2 cooler

Temps are in the 50s

OC, by it's nature has no upper limit. That also means it has no lower limit other than that defined by the specification, in this case 4.2GHz.

What you set in your BIOS is a target, not a given. You may be able to get closer to that target or not depending how well/poorly your overclock works. Keep in mind that the overclock is specific to the particular silicone you are using.

It may be that you won't be able to reach 5GHz except for short bursts.
