I'm currently building a new gaming rig from AvaDirect, as I am often clumsy and don't trust myself building one. I don't know much about computers, and I was wondering if I could overclock.

Processor:
INTEL Core™ i7-7800X Six-Core 3.5 - 4.0GHz Turbo, LGA 2066, 140W TDP

Video Card:
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SC GAMING, 1607 - 1683MHz, 8GB GDDR5, Graphics Card [VR-Ready]

Memory:
G.SKILL 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) Ripjaws V DDR4 3200MHz, CL16, Black, DIMM

Power Supply:
EVGA 850 G3, 80 PLUS Gold 850W, ECO Mode, Fully Modular, ATX (850 watts)

CPU Cooler:
Be Quiet! Dark Rock TF, 131mm Height, 220W TDP, Copper/Aluminum

Thermal Compound:
INNOVATION COOLING Diamond 7 Carat, 1.5g, 4.5 (W/m-K), Micronized Diamond.

Cooling Fan:
COOLER MASTER SickleFlow 120mm, 2000 RPM, 52.19 CFM, 19 dBA

Fan Controller:
NZXT Sentry Mesh, 5-Channels Fan, 5.25" Bay, Black Fan Controller Panel

M.2 Storage:
SAMSUNG 500GB 960 EVO 2280, 3200 / 1800 MB/s, V-NAND, PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe, M.2 SSD

HDD Storage:
SEAGATE 2TB BarraCuda ST2000DM006, 7200 RPM, SATA 6Gb/s, 64MB cache, 3.5-Inch OEM HDD

Optical Drive:
LITE-ON iHDS118-04, DVD 18x / CD 48x, DVD-ROM, 5.25-Inch

Wireless Network Card:
ASUS PCE-AC88, Internal, Dual-Band 2.4 / 5GHz, 1000 / 2167 Mbps, PCI Express 2.0 x1

If it helps, I am planning on running pretty intensive, newer games, like Planet Coaster, Beamng.drive, Cities Skylines, etc.

Any other tips, or advice is appreciated. Thank you!

I was browsing Avadirect and they do offer Z370 with option for i7 8700K. i7 8700K is actually 2 generation newer than i7 7800X. i7 7800X is based on 6th gen Skylake, 7th gen is Kaby lake, 8th gen is Coffee lake i7 8700K. For performance at the same frequency, 8700K has better IPC and allow better over clock due to more matured manufacturing. Base clock and turbo boost, i7 8700K runs much higher clock than i7 7800X

Unless you plan to upgrade to run more than 6 cores in the near future, you can cut cost to get i7 8700K and Z370 motherboard. i7 8700K also has 6c/12t as i7 7800X.

i7 7800X will allow to overclock. I believe almost all CPU runs on LGA 2066 allow overclock.

Yes, but should I based on the games I am playing.

Neither of those are on option on avadirect unfortunately. They are nearby though so I have to go with whoever is nearest incase of issues, and better shipping.

The motherboard LGA2066 socket that takes i7 7800X is for enthusiast level. People who build PC using LGA2066 socket mobo wants to have CPU up to 18 cores, as a result, the mobo is quite expensive. One month ago, you have to use LGA2066 mobo if you have 6 cores or more. Now, Intel release 6 cores as main stream CPU, it may sense to get i7 8700K if you only need 6 cores.
