I just bought battlefield 1 and thought it would be an awesome experience cause I have a pretty decent pc but it was just the opposite at first I get bad frame drops while playing second thing whenever I enable DX 12 and restart the game, it doesn't work I can't even get past the menu it's even hard to move the cursor at that time? Anyone of you experts know the possible reason for this? Any help is appreciated
My pc specs :
Cpu : i5 7500
GPU : GTX 1060 6gb
Mobo : Asus strix b250f
Ram : 16 GB ddr4 dual channel
And yeah all my driver's and windows is up to date I'm running windows 10

Solution

Everything looks as it should. Temps are good, usage is fine. The GPU usage during gaming going to 100% is also good. Means your not bottle-necking (as your CPU hits approx 100% too), which you would expect with your CPU. Don't see anything there that makes me think it's a hardware issue. I'm basing that on the fact you've reported your HD is okay health wise.

To me, it seems like it's a software issue. Sadly that means one of a couple of things.

1. Re-install the game (or try get a different connection type - internet wise. Do you have a decent mobile data...
Not sure, the Dx12 path for BF1 has improved immensely. Funnily enough, i had a slow down on DX11 and switched to DX12 after hearing it was better, and it's actually alot better. SO now I leave it on DX12.

On your slow downs, that could be a lot of different things. Maybe use something like HWmon/HWinfo to see if there is excessive CPU/GPU usage going on, or high temps potentially throttling either CPU/GPU.

Your system is capable, but keep in mind a 4c/4t CPU will be found wanting in that game at 1080p with max details. My Ryzen uses all threads to some extent, so I don't feel any slow downs at all.

When you say bad frame drops, are you playing single or multi? If multi, you have to expect it as the onscreen details, with lots of other assets are running around doing their thing too, has an impact on CPU resources.

@yeti_yeti I can't tell about other games cause battlefield 1 is the only game on my pc which supports DX 12 and isn't there any other solution? Cause I have a really slow internet connection and it will take days to download it again :'(

The game doesn't need to support dx12. I just asked this to see if your overall performance was okay. If all other games run fine then its something with your game, if not you might have a hardware issue

Yes all other games work fine so if I download bf1 again will it be okay if I pause the download every now and then without corrupting it's files? Cause I will have to put it on download for almost 7 days

7 days seems pretty insane, what is your download speed?

maybe try it on single player and see if you get the same FPS drops.

I know have you a slow internet connection, so that's a call you'll have to make, with regard to re-downloading.

On watching vids for comparison, they can be a help, but sometimes a hindrance too. Are you sure they are playing on the same resolution as you are? What res is your monitor. The GTX1060 is really good for 1080p, if you are 1440p you will have to dial back settings to keep 60fps. What in-game graphical settings are you using? If you reduce the settings to say high, down from ultra, does that have an affect on your FPS?

edit: of course a very slow internet connection is going to have an impact on multiplayer gaming too.

@keith12 I'm playing on 1080P and I've tried lowering the settings to even at low but still keep getting those annoying frame drops even if I drop the resolution to 720p still the issue persists

okay. have you run HWmon in backround whilst gaming? If not do, and post a pic of the results.

as darklord eluded to, it could be the HD, so make sure there isn't something going on in the back-round. Could potentially be thermal throttling, so you need to look at CPU/GPU usage and temps. You can see all this through HWmon on the fly. It's a good way to get an overview of whats happening hardware wise, whilst your gaming.
