Hello all,

So I have a slight crisis on my hands here. First off my system specs that should pertain to this issue are a Intel i7700k processor and a Asus Prime Z270-A motherboard. I decided that I wanted to run a virtual box on the machine so I went into the Bios to enable the Intel Virtualization Technology. After I did this I rebooted and imidiately heard my system fans ramp up extremely high. After I logged in my monitoring software told me the CPU was under little to no load but the temp was at 89c. The system then kernel panicked and shut down. When I rebooted I imidiately went into the bios and the CPU temp was ramping up to 89c again while In the bios. I tried disabling the Intel Virtualization and restarted but the issue is persisting. I even reset the BIOs settings to default and the issue persisted. I do not overclock anything and the system has been running great for the past 8 months since I built it. The inside is very clean and the computer airflow is fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well i finally figured it out and i am a dummy. Turns out the pump in my cooler had died so i replaced it and the issue seems to be resolved. Thank you for the help you provided.

that is a strange problem you have there. enabling vT does not cause your CPU to behave like that. its just a feature that will be used by virtualization software. nothing more. please double-check if you have the latest chipset drivers from your motherboards support site. and maybe BIOS if it states fixes particularly to your case.

i blieve you have ASUS app center to quickly do an update for you. called EZ update.

First off thanks for the quick response! I will try running the EZ update when I get home from work and see if that resolves the issue. In your second post was that a release from Asus? Please forgive I know just enough about building these machines to be dangerous I am still learning.

yes i have an asus board myself. and theres a known intel vulnerability for attackers to directly access your CPU remotely. it affects all intel machines in most modern boards with a particular version of management engine. i did not read into to much detail about it tho.
