Looking to upgrade cpu

hi my current system is as below

intel i5 3470
asus 1151 3rd gen Intel motherboard
ddr3 corsair sport 8gb ram
500w corsair bronze psu
EVGA geforce 1050ti superclocked graphics
Samsung evo ssd 120gb
samsung 7400rpm 300gb hardrive

just needing some advise whether or not a new CPU will make much difference to my rig in terms of gaming, and whether a 3rd gen I7 will do or if it would be better going for something higher with a new motherboard & ram?, my max budget is £300

Your current system is a good 1080p machine. Upgrading to an i7 would yield some extra frames but it wouldn’t be anything drastic. I would save my money up for an overhaul of my system in the future.

If you really want to upgrade it now and you just can’t wait then the best (and most cost effective) way would be to get an i7. But again, I would save that 300 and add to it to eventually go all out on a brand new system.
