Hi people

I have set up a TP powerline adapter for my step father in the extension of the house to use Alexa and Spotify etc. The adapter also has its own WiFi password. The problem is I am only getting 2meg download using the WiFi from it sometimes nothing. Wired to the adapter is fine giving me 40meg download. Is this an issue you have come across our could it be faulty?

Thx Byron

I would try connecting the PL adapter directly to the circuit. There really is no reason to use a Sonoff switch (and they only operate as b/g/n wireless) there and it very likely is the cause of the issue. Sonoff acts as a distinct wireless spot and can cause channel interference with your wireless router. The 2.4GHz band would very likely have interference issues.

Use a wifi detecting app on your phone to see what wireless channels are used by your router and the Sonoff if you want to attempt to troubleshoot. I would just take it out of my network.

Agreed, you could have issues at several points.

Slow PL adapters (although I've not seen one that only gets 2Mbps since the very early models), low end wireless radios/adapters, and wireless interference or poor setup may all contribute. Best to post lots of information like all model numbers and some idea of the physical setup to get useful answers.

I am using a Sonoff basic connected to a AV200 WIFI powerline extender. Am I right saying these are not WIFI extenders but instead there own WIFI spot. I have read that the Sonoff does not work well with extenders. I am having an issue where the Sonoff seems to be killing the WIFI signal. I am trying to pair it again after resetting everything but when pairing with the eWeLink app it kills the WIFI signal completely. Disconnects. The exact same thing happens when I connect over my Talk Talk router WIFI too.
