I have an Alienware 2016 17 R3 with 128 gb ssd. My first question is will upgrading this in size make a difference (Performance, speed etc...)?
Second, is this 128 gb OS ssd a PCIE NvMe ssd? If not what type ssd is the replacement?
Is this the correct ssd? Corsair Force Series MP500 480GB M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen. 3 x4 SSD
If so, will this be a good upgrade and if not please recommend an ssd?

I can't seem to find your specific config from a quick google search, however you can tell what the SSD is pretty easily. If it's PCIE NVMe then it will be connected to a slot on your motherboard. If it's SATA, it will be in a drive bay somewhere with 2 connectors on it. Most of the configs seem to have PCI-E NVMe.

Upgrading sizes on PCI-E NVMe SSDs make a small difference - the difference between PCIE and SATA is minimal in real world usage anyway. It won't be noticeable in anything other than benchmarks.

As for the upgrade, that would be fine. Just be prepared since you're going to have to re-install Windows. It will help to have a backup of your files.
