Specs:

GPU
EVGA GTX 1070

MB
Z270 Gaming K6 (Driver P2.10)

CPU
Intel i5 7600k

RAM
G.Skill 2x4gb DDR4 2400

OS
Windows 7 Home Premium

Peripherals:

Corsair K70 Keyboard
Razer Taipan mouse

Problem:

Keyboard and mouse don't work on my desktop. They work fine on my BIOS.

How could I get these to work again?

Note:

- I haven't installed a new version of Windows, this is the same windows OS that I used on my previous motherboard.

- I have no issues booting up windows.
(This may be due to a program I have that blocks Windows from updates and force updates. Back when Microsoft tried to install windows 10)

- I don't have any PS/2 mouses.

- My mother board came with a CD driver

- I have a couple external hard drives and flash drives available.

If you can throw some ideas on where the issue lies, i'd greatly appreciate it!

Unless it's the same motherboard you probably don't have USB drivers, and with no keyboard or mouse installing them might be an issue. You could try booting into safe mode and see if that's any better and then install the drivers from your CD or download the latest ones from their website.

Really though for a motherboard change you might be best to reinstall windows. If you don't want to do that the only other option I can think of is to try a repair install.

You need to install the USB drivers for your new motherboard. The ones you have now are for your old motherboard, and probably won't work with the new one. This is one of the reasons you really should do a fresh install of windows when you install a new motherboard.

i highly advise you to re-install windows for your new motherboard.

... but if you really insist in using your old windows with your new motherboard without reinstall, you will need to prepare this USB tool from this site below. this will allow you to install basic/specific motherboard drivers to your windows pre-boot. the instructions in the site is very straight forward. however, this is not a guarantee your system will work 100%. but at least, this will make your keyboard and mouse work. there are ways to "fix" a old windows to work thru directly editing the registry or running a specific tool in windows to reset like an OOBE fix.

like @Calvin7 said. if your new motherboard has a Skylake processor and above, this will only support windows 10. it will not work with older versions of windows.
