Hey. I bought a 1600mhz 4gb ddr3 ram. I added it on my PC but it's not booting. I have a H81M-K motherboard. My current ram is the same exact speed, capacity and voltage but a different brand. I tried my first ram alone, and it boots. I tried the new one alone and it doesn't boot. Tried it on either slots.

Not sure the problem here. Is the new one defective? The shop staff said that it should be compatible.

Any help would be nice.

Edit: My orig ram is a 4gb ddr3 1600 G.Skill RipJaws X. The new one is Kingston with exactly the same exact speed, voltage and capacity.

Ok first of all never ever try it use two different ram having two different brands. A same spec of speed and voltage and timing (you have not mentioned) does not mean they have same memory controller installed on them. Even memory manufacturer don't recommend to use same ram which is part of different ram kit. I mean say you have a 1600 G.Skill RipJaws X and after two year you bought another 1600 G.Skill RipJaws X even then it is not guaranteed to work as per manufacturer. You have to buy a kit (like two or 4 rams/dimms in a package).
But trust me it works, I have used two different ram kits in many intel pcs as well as ryzen with out any issue but exact same ram model from same manufacturer.
As you have tested those sticks...

As you have tested those sticks individually it seems the newer ram has some kind of issue in your system. If possible you may try to clear cmos and install the new ram to check whether it is working or not. If not return it to the seller and buy a G.Skill RipjawsX 1600. Don't use different brand rams. It is totally not recommended for optimal performance of your pc.

Check your options first. If you can replace this not working ram with a new ripjawsX 1600 (exact same model of your older one) then this will work in your system and it will be best for you as you can get benefited by dual channel memory config.
If you can not purchase a new same ram (but I don't think you don't) buy a new ram. It will not be cost effective solution as you have to discard your old ram. You can check memory compatibility from ram manufacturers website. Like g.skill has similar ram configurator link on their website to avoid future ram issues.
