Mixing cards together

Solution
I wanted dual gpu desktop only

Why? There is no reason for that.

Edit: Looking online, in the comments from one site I saw people talking about the 470 and 480 being ~4.5-5.0Tflop cards. This is already at the processing power of your current card, but better because it's one chip so it can do that all the time and not depending on CF drivers. With the larger frame buffer it should do better as well. I know you like that card, but I really think a newer one would work better.

Edit 2: According to AMDs site, the 580 can be "up to" 6.2 Tflops. Will depend on clock rates.

Don't bother. You are already running 2 way crossfire, adding a 3rd or 4th card will bring very little benefit. 2 way crossfire support is dying, of the games that do support it the scaling to 3-4 way is terrible. You are better off asking your current card and investing in a single more powerful card.

What are you trying to do? I know you are trying to add more cards to your 59xx, but why?

the 5970x2 is a really old card these days. I know it has two GPUs, but they have a low frame buffer and the tech found in them is super old. To be honest right now you are running something that uses WAY more power than newer cards, and get lower frame rates as well. Honestly I'd just scrap that card and buy anything newer. A 4 or 8GB 470-580 would be way better in terms of performance and efficiency.

For what purpose? If you just need additional outputs for screens, pretty much any cheap card can be put in.

Am doing photo rendering like Hubble space photos 5gig 10gig files it's not about Vram I don't need 6gig vram +++ A £400 card does nothing for me. The 5970 is dual gpu 4.64tflops 2gig is fine. I just wanted too know witch other cards with worling with it. Yes there old cards but still more than enough for what I need

Does it use crossfire, or can it send work to the gpus individually?
