Cannot identify my computer's hardware, do not know how to proceed.

Hi,

I have tried everything to identify one of my peripherals.

I am running w7 and the problematic HW appears as "LPC11Uxx USB Composit" in my printers/device manager.

In the device managers it appears as "COM/DATA" and the hardware id is: USB\VID_1FC9&PID_100B&REV_0100&MI_01

With all that and google I just cannot figure out what is that hardware and where can I get the drivers.

This is a desktop computer that I built and I have tried to unplug all my peripherals with no luck.

Any idea??

Solution
Registry corruption? Who knows. It sounds like it has had quite a lot of uses over the years. I would recommend backing up your data and a clean install. It will probably help a lot of things. If you aren't already booting from an SSD take this opportunity to get one.

Hmmm, yes as a matter of fact I have a single board computer Azulle Access Plus. I don't remember plugging it directly into my desktop but it is a possibility that I have done so.

It isn't currently connected though.

It is a home built PC,
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
Motherboard: MSI Z97M

Edit: I put the pc together more than 2years ago, I can't recall when this weird component appeared though.

I haven't unplugged the onboard USB header, however the USB3 header on the mother board has a broken pin V+. So one of the two USB3 of the case isn't powered and does not work.

Never had any of the type. I do have some experimental cell phones but they are all correctly discovered by the PC and I never had recognition issues with them.

Hahaha sure wasn't!

But how come I can't uninstall the hardware then?? Every-time I uninstall it the PC detects it again and tries gain to install a driver (and can't).

Hm..Yes.. Out of laziness I have been keeping away from running this step. But I believe you are right, I should go through a clean install. This might take some time, thanks a lot for the help.

Yeah I tried it many times, but it never offered the key deletion directly. I would have to do it manually.
I will try Kanewolf recommendation and re install my w7 to see if it helps. Thanks a lot for the help though, it is greatly appreciated.

Out of curiosity, could it be related to the broken USB3 header? When I go into the hardware tab of the property of the device "LPC11Uxx USB Composit" I can see 3 other functions for the peripheral. All of them work properly, only the 4th, labeled COM/DATA, has an issue. One of these functions shares the same location and has almost the same hardware ID: "USB\VID_1FC9&PID_100B&REV_0100&MI_00"

The driver installed on this function is "Peripheral for USB input" (translation fro my OS local language is mine).

Ok, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my question. I'll run the OS re-install and report back. If it doesn't solve the problem I'll mark the thread as solved with your answer about the mobo header.
