Precision WorkStation T3500 upgrade

Hello, i got an old Precision Workstation T3500, im thinking about to upgrade it be capable play Witcher 3, I want to be sure, it is possible to upgrade it and i dont want to spend more than 350eu.

PC spec :

CPU : intel Xeon W3530 2.8GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR3@533MHz
Motherboard: Dell. 09KPNV
Graphic Card: GeForce GTS450

im thinking to put something like xeon X5680/x5690 processor
and graphic card GTX770/970
and i probably need a new PSU too

it is even upgradable? or maybe its not worth?

The T3500 PSU will power a GTX 970 just fine. Have done it myself. Get a card with single 8-pin and use a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter on the PCIe connector.

The xeon X5680/x5690 are both 6 core CPU and command higher prices. And games will not make full use of them. My suggestion would be 4 core X5687. They can be had for $45. Built several that way. Also suggest you update to latest BIOS (A17) and chipset driver. Dell utility makes it very easy.

My Precision T3500 had a Xeon W3670 (i7-970) and the 525W Dell PSU. I stuck a GTX 1060 in it and was able to run most any game at near max settings @ 1080p. It was a better gamer than My FX-8350 OC'ed to 4.7GHz with the same card. The 6C/12T Xeon had a new lease on life now that AAA games are becoming more thread-aware.

So, besides the gfx card upgrade, you'll probably want to see if you can find a faster CPU. But try the new card with the W3530 first. It may be enough to make you happy as-is.
