I'm working on two laptops, and the Wifi card in one is a 1x1" and the other is a 2x1."

Can anyone tell me about installing an M.2 card in there if that is even possible, and if it is not possible, why not?

Thanks

The m.2 SSD physically fitting is only one part of the equation.
Does the motherboard know what to do with it?
Some only take a SATA m.2 drive, some only take a PCIe m.2 drive.
Some take either.
Some take neither in that location.

What do these particular laptops do?

And...the utility of removing the WiFi to replace with an m.2 drive is probably pretty bogus.
A regular 2.5" SATA SSD, in the regular drive slot, would be just as good.
