Hello!

My motherboard abruptly quit on me last night (see my other thread), and now I'm looking to replace it. I looked for the model that I currently own and it's not available anywhere, and not listed on the ASRock website anymore. Here are my current specs:

CPU: Intel core i7-3770
PSU: Corsair CX Series 750 Watt (non-modular)
Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270x 2GB GDDR5 Dual-X with Boost and OC Version PCI
CPU fan: Intel E97378-001
Ram: 2x Team Dark 8GB

I spent most of today reading and watching reviews of gaming motherboards and the ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F gaming MB (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071SGQP1Q/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&psc=1) has caught my eye. Would this motherboard be compatible with what I already have?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

A Z77 based motherboard would be a good choice. Put "Z77" into an E-Bay search. Select "sold" on the left side. You will see what is actually selling. There are lots of Gigabyte Z77s sold. If you search for Z77 on this forum you will see recommendations for specific boards. If you just search for 3770 you will see lots of threads with recommendations for motherboards.

I will add that ANY motherboard change has a risk of REQUIRING a clean OS install.
Nope. B350 motherboards are for AMD Ryzen CPUs, and as you can guess you can't put Intel CPU in AMD motherboard. I'm afraid finding new board that is compatible with your components may be very hard if not impossible.

PcPartPicker found only one board that is compatible with your current setup, and the price is so crazy that you could buy new CPU/mobo/RAM for that. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007RIFMQA/?tag=pcp0f-21

Yikes. So you're saying basically I should buy all new CPU, ram, and mobo? There goes Christmas money.

Okay. I just don't know what to use because there's no dupe of my dead one, or at least I haven't found it.

About the OS install - I don't really have any other choice now that mine is dead, so I'll just go ahead and order a ASRock z77 motherboard and hope for the best. We may have a disk somewhere.

Thank you for your help!
