GPU dropping FPS all of a sudden

Hey guys

My GPU is dropping frames for some reason. it's a 1080 with a I7-6850k. My screen is an asus 144hz ROG Swift. I've tried updating drivers and I've also tried turning g-sync on and off with no difference in frame rate. I was getting 300fps and now i get what seems to be capped at 144fps (please don't grill me on 144fps is fine with a 144hz monitor, there is a huge difference at 300fps compared to 144fps) any help would be great thanks.

Try the following ONE AT A TIME, test after each change

Uninstall the GPU drivers with DDU and reinstall fresh down from the Nvidia website.

Disable Fast boot

Type Control Panel in the search box.
Click Control Panel.
Click Power Options.
Click Choose what the power buttons do.
Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Scroll down to Shutdown settings and uncheck Turn on fast startup.
Click Save changes.

disable superfetch

Hold the Windows Key, while pressing “R” to bring up the Run dialog box.
Type “services.msc“, then press “Enter“.
The Services window displays. Find “Superfetch” in the list.
Right-click “Superfetch“, then select “Properties“.
Select the “Stop” button if you wish to stop the service. In the “Startup type” dropdown menu, choose “Disabled“.

It's not dropping frames, Windows released an update that's capping the framerate. I've answered a few of these already, you need to disable fullscreen optimization. https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/6sdn4s/if_you_play_overwatch_on_windows_10_consider/

And no, there isn't a difference with 300 fps on a 144hz monitor because your monitor is only displaying 144 of those 300 frames.

unfortunately your fix didn't work! the game im trying to get back to 300 FPS is overwatch as well! any other suggestions?

tried every option and still stuck at 130FPS. Any other suggestions?
