I7-4790 with a B85-G43

Hello!

I'd like to change my i5-4460 for i7-4790. My mb is a B85-G43.

Would someone know if I'll need to upgrade the bios?

If the answer is yes... Could you explain me how to do it?

on that mb web page support page will be a cpu guild. in the guild it have the cpu tested and the bios needed to post it. on bios updating dont use any windows updater as you brick your mb. download and unzip the bios file to a usb stick. plug the usb stick into the pc and boot into the bios. in the bios there a utlity tab. in that tab is build in bios updater.

you need version 3.7 at least for this processor.
you might see the BIOS version when you turn on computer before windows starts to load.
you can check it in BIOS.
You can use MSI utility
you can use CPU-Z utility (BIOS version will be in Mainboard tab).
But, just flash the latest BIOS.
