Hi. What's this red dot that I can't get rid of it?

It started to happen with the latest Nvidia driver. Then I reinstalled the old one with a clean installation. But it stays there whenever there's a white themed something on the screen.

I don't see it when I'm using fullscreen my browser. But I do see that dot on games when there's a lot of white.

I just connected the display to my laptop and dot stays there :O

But that display shows every colour perfectly. I checked on dead pixel sites and started right after the new driver installation. Isn't it weird?

I found it, but it took some searching. A starry desktop background is probably not the best choice for pointing out a dot. : P

As for what it is, I'm honestly not sure. It seems to appear when the window with the white background gets moved vertically over it higher up the screen. If this is an external monitor with HDMI, have you tried hooking the screen up to another video source other than your computer, such as a game console or something, to see whether it appears there as well? Or maybe try switching over to the integrated graphics in your CPU to help determine if it might be a video card issue?

I've connected a phone through HDMI and I didn't see a dot. I opened both black themed app and white themed app.

Update, I've tried on ubuntu (on a different computer) and stucked pixel was there. This is so weird that it started after gpu driver update. I have time until this month ends to return. Can it go away?

I purchased it from Amazon.com and I'm living in Turkey. (I can order a new one simply but import fees was 75$ and now it's 150$.) I don't want to lose 75$ for that. + They refunded my shipping cost for a reason and they might not do that again. It's 90$.) This replacement might cost me around 200$. If I return it and get the full refund what monitor I can get? I got used to GSYNC and 165 Hz. So frustrating. Model is PG279Q btw. I haven't mentioned it)

I agree that it sounds like a defect in the screen. Appearing around the same time as the driver update was probably just a coincidence. Since it's a new monitor, it might have just taken a bit of time to appear.

I'm not sure I'd consider it a "dead pixel" though, but it appears to be something similar. An actual dead or stuck pixel wouldn't change color depending on something happening on a different portion of the screen. This is more like an electrical connection being crossed between two subpixels in the same column.

I'm not sure what the warranty/exchange options are like in your region, but I would contact Amazon/Asus, and show them that video with the solid black desktop background to give them a better idea of what the defect is, and find out what your options are.

Asus Turkey told me to send it to them. I’m thinking. Amazon can’t send a replacement for some reason but they can take it back then I can reorder. But there’s a import fees deposit difference and I’m not sure if they will give the shipping cost back. If they give me the shipping I’ll lose 75-80 dollars extra. If they don’t, I’ll lose about 170-180$.

And I’ve never seen such problem like this. It happened before but then I reinstalled the old driver and it was gone. Now it appeared again when I update the driver but this time it won’t go away when I return to the old one. 2 coincidences in a row is weird.
