Hey guys I'm POSSIBLY taking the leap to 4k gaming but i need your guys help as i'm not tech savi.

Here's what I'd like to carry over from my current build to the new one

1. 120gb sandisk SSD with windows 10
2. 250gb Samsung ssd
3. EVGA g2 850w PSU
4. H105 cpu cooler ( can this be used on the new CPUs? i bought it new)

5. HAF x case ( Still please recommend a new case with great air flow)

EXTRA INFORMATION
1. For the most part I'd like this PC to last me 5 years at 4k so I don't mind spending a little more to get the best experience over my PCs life span.

2. The only part I'll swap out over the 5 year span is the GPU 2.5-3 years in

3. I don't care about flashing lights/leds as the PC will out of sight under my desk.

4. I will be overclocking so a nice mobo would be great

BUDGET= £1.5-2k

This should last you pretty well. I added a new case, and the parts which you have are included but do not add to the tital.

Thank you ArchitSahu.

Would you be able to recommend a bigger case (somewhat similar to my HAF X)
Also faster Ram would be great too (I'd like to spend more now and not have to worry in the future)
Another thing, would it be worth it to get a 1tb hybrid drive? Do games load slower@4k?

If you could recommend a solid 4k monitor that would be great too. Preferably with a HDMI 2.0, display port and a low response time.

If anybody else has their own recommendations for a 4k gaming PC go a head and post :D, it would help me out a lot.

This is IPS, and has lowest ms of 4, which is the best I could find. 60Hz.

Thanks for all your advice I'll be sure to use the parts you've picked out for me if i go for it.

I've just been looking on youtube and i see the new volta GPU is out. Do you think it's worth waiting a little longer for the gaming volta GPUs to come out?

Also, when did the 8000 series CPUs come out? is there any chance in the very near future the next gen CPUs will drop?

The thing with prediction is that you are always guessing. Thee 7000 series released at the beginning of 2017, and after RYzen dropped, the 8000 series released around October - November. The 8000 series was predicted for 2018 end.

The 8000 series is pretty powerful, so I doubt a new drop is on its way. Either way, it does not matter. Whichever gives you the performance you need is what you need. The 8000 series, for now, is the way to go. In the future, perhaps with a BIOS update of the motherboard, you can upgrade that CPU.

With the Titan Volta released, their gaming version of Volta COULD be right around the corner. It is up to you if you want to wait. The Tesla V100 used in the Nvidia DGX1 is incredibly powerful, something that I saw first hand. If it is that fast, then the Titan V must be a bit slower, but faster than pascal. So would the GTX 20 series.

Either way, you can build for now, and then update then, but a 1080Ti should be more than powerful for your needs, so I doubt you would need to upgrade.

You should definitely wait for Volta to get beter banf for buck. Something like this should be your end game...

Use the 120gb SSD as OS drive and the 250gb SSD as your frequently used data(games/movies/etc.) drive. The HDD is for your storage and backup.
The case is very good as I have first hand experience of it.
And you definitely need new Windows with your new hardware.

It is a good build, but he already has an OS on the 120 GB I thought? I understand this will be treated like a new computer, but can he not just input the code from his already purchased Windows 10 copy?

I spoke to microsoft about this as i got a free windows 10 upgrade from my win 7. As long as i provide Microsoft with with my win 7 key they'll give me a windows 10 download on my new hardware if need be

Also yeah I think i'll wait for volta. It seems like new acer and asus are coming out with new 4k monitors very soon so i may start saving now for one as i think they'll be £1k+
