Hello ALL,

BLUF: when pressing the Power button, the PC turns on and off within seconds. PC will turn on without the CPU 6pin cable connected. Not sure its an issue with my Mobo or CPU. Please help

Back story:
Yesterday, I replaced all my stock PSU cables with sleeved cables on my Enermax Revolution SFX 550w. The sleeved cables are Corsair CP-8920202 SF Series Premium PSU Cable Kit. The Corsair description states "Designed for SF Series power supplies.." is the reason why I bought them, plus they look nice. I did a one-for-one swap with each cable to ensure no misplacement. Once completed I pressed the "On" button, with great disappointment the PC shutdown within sec. I seen my hard earn money disappear. After hours of troubleshooting and replacing all the cables with the original stock cables, the PC still turns on for 1 sec. Been reading a lot of forms and watching a lot of youtube videos, I was able to get the PC to turn on without connecting the CPU 6pin cable. I just need to know how much I need to save to replace either the mobo or "God for bid" my CPU.

So this means your PSU is most likely still working. However, checking whether it's motherboard or CPU that got hit is not that simple, and easiest way is to take it to comp shop for a test, therefore you should test PSU too just in case.
Where to start ...
Corsair cables are for Corsair PSUs, and then only for listed models. You really thought Corsair cables will work with Enermax PSU?
Since turning back to proper cables didn't help, you obviously fried some components. However, there is no such thing as '6-pin CPU cable'. Cables powering CPU come in two types, 4-pin and 8-pin. Your motherboard uses 8-pin. So what you had in mind? And I assume PC turns on without the cable, but not POSTs?

You have likely fried either the PSU and/or the motherboard possibly more. Using modular cables meant for another psu is a very bad idea and usually doesn't end well.
6-pin cpu power cables don't exist in the ATX standard. Your motherboard uses an EPS cpu power connector which is 8-pin.

Thanks for the quick post. yes my bad its 8pin vise 6pin. I made a really dumb mistake, I was thinking "SF PSU, I have a SF PSU..Should work!" I didn't see a Corsair only [Note taken]. without the 8PIN cable, the PC starts(fans spin, cooling pump runs and etc).Once its re-connected, PC turns on for 1 sec and off. I'm really hoping my CPU is not fried. I'm hoping I can test the CPU or the Mobo before I buy a new one. Need to Save or sale stuff.
