Hi,

I have recently built a new pc:
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB
Asus Prime B350-Plus motherboard
Corsair CX600 PSU
2x 8GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance DDR4

No matter what I do or what game I play I cannot get my FPS above 1-20.

If I tab out of the game and go back in ocassionaly it will go right up to 80+ FPS.

Games I have tried:

GTAV
PUBG
Escape from Tarkov

Things I have tried:
Tried my old GTX 960 (worked fine no problems)
Ran DDU on safe mode clean install reinstalled drivers (no luck)
Ran DDU safe mode installed old drivers from a few months back (no luck)
Install without Geforce experience etc and overlays (no luck)
Various other things.. I have been at this for 3 days can't remember everything else..(no luck)

I've had the GPU for 4 weeks and worked fine in my old build, I upgraded my Motherboard, CPU and RAM and now I cannot solve it.

One thing I have noticed is when the fps has dropped I get 400Mhz MEM.
When it is working "50+ fps" I get 4000+ MHz MEM.

Could anyone please help as I am at a loss at what to do.

GPU, Mobo or CPU issue... Or a mixture of the three with incompatibility?

Thanks

Solution
Can you test that gpu on another system? Maybe from a friend or local shop ...
Since the gtx 960 works fine do i really get the feeling that the problem is in the gpu,but testing could make that more clear.

Sorry bud, I should have posted in my OP that I have performed a new fresh install of Windows 10 64bit, and another since I have been trying to troubleshoot the issue.

I have also updated the BIOS and installed the most recent chipset drivers

Please see images I will attach, you can see from the MEM they differ completely from the low FPS to the "stable" FPS

Apologies for the terrible phone pictures they were taken earlier to help diagnose with a friend over Facebook.

I will test a single stick now while I await your next response.

Thanks

Just tried single sticks, no difference.

Ok. Do you have the XMP profile set for the memory in the bios?

Are you overclocking anything?

Made any changes to the BCLK clocks?

Have you tried completely resetting the bios by unplugging from wall socket, remove cmos battery to reset hardware tables, put it all back and restart? Try that.

Also, make sure your primary OS drive is connected to the SATA 0 (Or 1 if there is no 0) header.

Make sure your memory sticks are populating the slots specifically designated in your motherboard manual for two stick, dual channel operation. What slots your memory is installed in CAN make a difference or cause weird behaviors.

Honestly, it really sounds like there is either a memory or motherboard issue, but try those things first.

I have set the profiles in the BIOS.

No overclocking.

Reset CMOS.

RAM set to Stick, space, stick, space as suggested by mobo manual.

RAM confirmed by qvl.

It's really weird, I've never experienced an issue like this before..

I wish it would just not work at all and then I can atleast diagnose something.. But it doesn't work like 70% of the time, then sometimes it runs like a charm at 80+FPS

With this one you have good fps?

Sounds like you use the black slots which are not the recommended, use the grey slots.

Yes, correct... I just swapped the RAM to the grey rails... Testing now

Yeah. Done that :/ rolling back drivers again at the moment to an August version, don't think it will make a difference though.

One thing I just noticed was before the frames drop my monitor went off for a second displayed the "hdmi" and the frames crashed down to 16.. Was running at 74 fps before that, first time I've seen it though.

Ok, update on this.. This is happened everytime I load a game up, and animation begins.. Right before the frame drops This happens.. Just tried with another HDMI cable to test display, happened again.. And tested with DVI, the DVI loaded a few seconds into the game and then monitor went off displayed "DVI" and frames crashed

Wait, what? If you have an August version of the drivers on your system then you could not have done a clean install or have any other driver version available to "roll back" to. Something is not adding up here. You either did a clean install of the Operating system, since this problem began, and did a clean install of the GPU card drivers, or you didn't. OR, are you saying that you are now trying to INSTALL an older version of the drivers to see if that cures the problem?

If THAT is the case, then make damn sure you run the DDU again between driver version installations or you're likely to never figure out what's going on.

Have you TRIED this card in another system SINCE the problem began? If not, doing so might be helpful in determining if it's the card or something else. Right now I'd say it looks a lot like the card but it could actually even be a power supply issue.

Might want to try another 450w or higher TRUSTWORTHY power supply if you have access to one.

Yes I am trying older drivers from August after running DDU just for peace of mind that the older drivers (November) weren't causing problems that I tried, anyway the August drivers haven't made a difference and I don't have another PC to test my card in, only my old card to test which was fine.

I will try a different PSU.

If this works fine does it sound like a gpu problem. Try installing Nvidia drivers without "Geforce Experience". Can when installing uncheck it in advanced mode, can also check there to do a clean install. Does imo work fine,so no need for ddu everytime.

Done with custom install, same result :(
