I have an old pc (Alienware r4 Aurora) and recently when I have stared to play PUBG my pc has been getting the ‘BSOD’ due to my cpu overheating. I found this out by investigating the liquid cooling and once I reapplied the cooler I have been getting 60 degrees idle and whilst doing a basic task I get the bsod again. Is this because of the thermal paste. Please help

well i always use either the noctua nt-h1 or the arctic silver 5 tho...
replacing thermal paste doesnt improve your temps. but i guess if you replaced it with a good quality one will. or it wasnt applied in a good way the first time or its gettin old and drying out. were you doing some overclocking? try resetting back to optimized defaults for your mobo.

so its not in the bios if you ddnt do oc. it could be your fans arent working properly due to dust? have you done some spring cleaning already on it? make sure they arent clogging your system. fans and heatsink. inside your gpu. check if the pumps are still working. and there isnt too much dust on the radiator.

My cpu is water cooled and all my fans everywhere else go to the maximum setting it sounds like a hair dryer

oh well first thing to do is to buy a good quality thermal paste then before we proceed with anything else. just try any of the 2 i mentioned. tehy are teh most common for overclockers. have you done anything like this before? make sure you go to your computers support website or if you still have the manual on how to replace thermal paste there. there is a lot of good youtubers who can show as well. like linus techtips or jayztwocents.

Not done anything like this before and I don’t have the manual lost it over the years, any thermal paste suggestions?

If your cooler is more than a couple of years old the pump may have failed. I recently had to replace my water cooling system when I started having the same problems. I replaced the thermal paste and cleaned the radiator which helped for a short time but ended up replacing the unit when my idle temperatures where like the ones you are seeing.
