Can someone help me build a mining rig for zcash. I would need a stand too because I don't want to make one. I can spend around 800-2k. I want to do this for long term and operate it 24/7.

Solution
$2000 in parts.
$10/day return.

Almost a year before you begin to break even.

Better to just buy $2000 worth of whatever coin, and hope the return rises over the next year.
DSzymborski is right in that you would have made more money if you started mining in the past. But there are plenty of coins to mine, and you can use Nicehash and it will mine a number of different coins for you and pay you in Bitcoin.

3x 1070 Ti will get you about $9-12 per day right now. That could and will change for better or worse any given day. I have 2x 1070 Ti that have been running on Nicehash for a few days now averaging $8/day in BTC.

Your return on investment will be somewhat long if you have to build a whole rig from scratch. But you can add more GPUs later.

Bitcoin Gold BTG is another coin that uses the same algorithm as Zcash so it can be mined with GPU. It is more promising as a cryptocurrency than Bitcoin BTC in functionality but not popularity. It is very new as it just recently forked off of Bitcoin a couple of months ago. It is still trying to get put on major exchanges. It is just as profitable at the moment to mine as Zcash. I had trouble finding good pools and exchanges though.

what's the difference between 1080 ti and 1070 ti? Should I go buy the best one?

Would it be more profitable for me to mine a cheaper coin and less well-known than a well-known one? I assume I can mine more of it right because they're easier to mine. I plan to hold these coins.

I also have 2x 1080 Ti. They're averaging about $12 a day on Nicehash together. 1080 Ti would be better for long-term.

Check out https://whattomine.com/coins

You can select what GPU you have and how many (they don't have 1070 Ti on there yet, but it's a little more than a 1070) and it will tell you how much you can make off mining each coin. But again that might not be relevant if you intend to hold the coins.

What coin to mine is all up to you since you want to hold the coins you would kind of have to do your own research and make a guess at what would coins would go up in price.

I would either pick a profitable coin and go with it or mine various coins for certain lengths of time to hold them.

Admirable
We all have our thoughts on the matter but I put my money into ETH and Monero. I believe ETH chains will be the foundation of a lot of public corporate ownership and Monero is the best bet for buying dark market type items.

It's not too late to mine, it's a relatively easy thing to do and it does pay off, if it paid off instantly it would be too good to be true.

My electricity bill is 3K a month... just saying.
