Hi

I recently bought two Corsair Vengeance 8gb 2400mhz DDR3 RAM sticks for my pc.

Originally I put them in with my other ram which was 2x4gb sticks of RAM. My PC crashed after I played a game in probably the first 5 minutes and would randomly crash while doing other things.

So I took out my old ram and put just the Corsair Vengeance sticks in and the PC didn't crash nearly as much but it still does from time to time especially when I play a game has high system requirements (it crashes sometimes even when I am just browsing the internet).

My Motherboard is an Asus Z97k which as far as I understand is 100% compatible with this type of RAM.

Do I possibly have a bad stick of RAM or is there something on my end that I'm missing?

Thanks

In your motherboard's BIOS it should have an option to enable XMP (Xtreme Memory Profile). It is a preset profile that sets the memory timings, voltage, and speed. So, if you just set the memory speed without adjusting the timings and voltage it would cause your system to crash.
