Hello all. I recently completed my first build. I'm using a Aorus 299 Gaming 7, I7 7820x, and GT 710 (while I wait for my 1080ti) to come in the mail. Everything booted up correctly after my first run but for the life of my I cannot get my audio connection to work. I'm currently running and HDMI cable from my Samsung 4k monitor to the 710 directly. When I look in the soundbar it shoes the bouncing green bars while running a youtube video like it detecting sound but i can't get audio from the monitor, the case headphone jack or the rear headphone jack. I have updated the realtech, and mobo drivers and nvidia drivers but still nothing.

Right now I am showing connected sound through the NVidia High Def Audio monitor connection and the Realtek Digital Output. I currently have the monitor set as default as I assumed using only an HDMI connection that would be the way to go. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do or should I just live without sound for a week until the new card comes in and try it then?

Solution
I realized what the issue was. My monitor does not have built in speakers. Which I thought it did. As soon as I plugged headphones into the monitor it got sound through the hdmi. I've switched back to realtek and plugged them into the case which is working also. Was the simplest solution possible staring me right in the face.
That's probably because the OS is trying to send all sounds through the motherboards' sound card. If you have the windows sound icon on the task bar, near the clock (the white icon with the shape of a loudspeaker), left-click on it, a small window should pop-up right up to it; on its top, you can select the device (it should be named "something-something HDMI"). If you have the Realtek icon (orange loudspeaker), double-click on it, and in the window that opens, select the tab for your prefered device (the HDMI to the TV), and click the "Make this device the default" (or something like that). Hope it helps!
