So... i found a super cheap flatbed scanner on Gumtree for only 5$

However, upon research i found out that it uses a SCSI interface, i've heard of it many times but i was never sure of what kind of interface it is, i searched a picture of the port and it looks to be similar to a Parallel port

Could i just get a Parallel to USB cable and be done? i want to use it with a Windows 7 laptop

Scanner name: Agfa Snapscan 310

Things in the world of electronic interfaces need to be exact; that it looks kind of sort of like something else doesn't mean anything. No, an SCSI device won't fit into a parallel port and wouldn't work if it did (they speak totally different languages, so to speak)

I assumed as much

It just looked exactly the same which naturally raised the question
There are converter cables on eBay but for some reason, they go for around 400$
That's awfully high for as something as simple as a cable

But as i said, both ports are the same, kinda hard to believe they're two different ports

Honestly, the hard part is connecting it to my laptop, if i can do that then i can work my way around
And i'm not doing only because it's cheap, i'm also doing this because it's fun

Well, the problem with these converters is that they're super expensive, this one costs $100
plus $40 shipping

Are they made out of diamonds or something?

Well, i'll find a different scanner, this one was just convinient to pick up since the same seller will sell me a printer

Thanks for the help everyone, i appreciate it

SCSI is obsolete so supply of SCSI controller chips is scarce driving up the price. It's not even worthwhile to buy any SCSI devices anymore.
