Hey Team, New year wishes to all.
I want to build a system for my daily uses and some of my vm work .
My Need for New build :-

1.Daily task like browsing ,word etc
2.Vmware related work for practice
3.no gaming as I own PS4 and hardly get time to play that.(cost cutting in GPU)

My confusion:-
1.Build with ryzen 7 or intel 8700k as ryzen 7 need gpu and intel 8700k future proof means upgradable
2.ssd for boot + 4tb hdd or using 4tb hdd + optane 32gb ? as vms will occupy all my ssd space.

any help with above dilemma ?

Solution
Then it doesn't make much difference what platform you use because you don't care about Windows Server 2012 or 2016 drivers; only Windows 10 or Ubuntu (I have no clue how well Ubuntu supports the Ryzen).

The integrated GPU of the 8700K is good, but large Word documents containing graphics, etc. will display faster with a good discrete GPU.

You didn't mention which Ryzen 7, but for your type of utilization I'd probably go with the i7-8700K.
