What requires an upgrade the most? (Gaming PC)

Hello everyone. Happy new year.

I recently had a bit of a hardware/software failure with my GPU and it's drivers which only got fixed when I installed Windows 10 (I was on 7 before). It got me to thinking that my parts are probably quite dated now and may need an upgrade soon (especially since I've had the PC for around 5 years now), so I thought I'd get an opinion on what needs priority in upgrading.

My current parts are:

Intel i5 4670K 3.4GHz (overclocked to 4.0 GHz)
Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 3 Motherboard
MSI GTX 770 2GB
G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel RAM
EVGA Supernova 800W Gold PSU
Alpenfohn Matterhorn Fan Cooler
Crucial 240GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD

I have a CM Storm Trooper case so any part should fit.

I might not even need to upgrade but I thought I may as well ask seeing as how that driver problem gave me a scare that the PC might start failing soon. Budget-wise I guess I wouldn't mind around £300, give or take a few tenners. Although I would consider anything over budget if it seems like a good deal.

Thanks a lot guys.

The first thing I would do is buy a new GPU. I'd get something like a 1070ti or 1080. You might want to think about a RAM upgrade as well, but the GPU should be done first. Otherwise you should be alright as the 4670k is still a pretty strong processor, especially if you are just gaming and doing basic other tasks.

I would've guessed that RAM would be the priority, being DDR3 and a low-ish speed. Problem with getting a 1070ti or 1080 is it's quite expensive, so maybe a 1060 would be better for me. If I can get a 1070 on sale or second hand for sub £300 I may go for that. Also the problem with getting a new CPU is that I need a new mobo and it kinda adds up. I may not be upgrading immediately if that's the case but I'm gonna refer back to this in the near future when I'll actually purchase the stuff.

That PC is still pretty capable. If anything, upgrade that GPU:

If you can increase your budget by around a 100 pounds, give or take 50, you can get a 1070 which should last longer.

If you do not mind waiting, Volta should be released soon, giving you more options. But these are powerful too, so it is up to you.

I may just wait a bit for Volta then. Even if I don't get one of the new cards, the 1070 is sure to reduce in price by some amount, so it's good either way.

Haha yeah. I seriously have a good experience with ROG, so i took that.
