my planned build
proc : i5 8600k ( 5 ghz )
board : z370 asus strix f (aura sync)
ram : 8x2 gskill trident z rgb 3000mhz (aesthetics)
cooler : nzxt 52x (aesthetics)
PSU : seasonic m12ii 620w evo ( bronze )
GPU : rx 580 8gb (will upgrade in the future)

I know the easiest component on a pc to upgrade is the GPU. so I'm bearing w/ medium/high while waiting for vega 56 supplies or when volta gaming cards releases. my problem is that most if not all of the rx 580 FPS benchmarks on 1440p are max or ultra settings.

so my question is, can the rx580 manage medium/high on 1440 at 60fps?

Solution
Should be fine. Even at ultra settings it does well on most games at 1440.

Benchmarks show a skewed perspective. Generally they focus on the most demanding titles out. By and large it will have no problems at 2560x1440. Even on highly demanding games it averages over 60 FPS on ultra at 2560x1440. On the worst titles it averages in the high 40s low 50s. I don't think you will have problems at medium/high settings. For the most part you'll be able to max out the settings. Except for those few extremely demanding titles.

asus mg279q. I don't have specific genre of games I like to play. anything in general. as long as the story progression is good. don't care much about the graphics anyway

Then RX 580 is good enough for 1440p 60 FPS in most games with suitable settings. However, with your 1440p 144Hz freesync monitor, I will get Vega to get the most out of the monitor :) 100+ is such an upgrade compared to 60 FPS. I am sure Microcenter/Fry's do have them in stock if you have one nearby.

thanks for the links. I needed to make sure so I won't waste money on buying another GPU just to get it to 60fps
