I have a kinda new 450W 80+ PSU with 24-pin connector, 6+2-pin PCIe connector and, as it occured to me - only 4-pin CPU connector.
I'm getting MSI B350M Pro-VDH (with 8-pin slot) and a Ryzen 5 1600.
My question is - will the 4-pin connector work in the 8-pin slot for this MB & CPU combo? Will I be able to do moderate overclock if it does work? And if it doesn't work - what are the workarounds here?

The 4-pin connector will work fine in the 8-pin slot, and there is no need for all 8 pins since your CPU is a low powered CPU. With an overclock one could reckon it'd maybe be fine but it depends on the overclock as well as the quality of the cable itself. What PSU is it?

Well, my grasp on the language is nil and pretty much is precluding me from hunting down anything for you.

I can honestly say that if you can find a good deal on an FSP or something we can tell you if it's a good product, the flashy brand names are buying their power supplies from companies like that anyhow.

But plugging your new rig into a firecracker is like buying a new BMW and getting bald tires... you know they're going to blow, the question is when and does it take the car with them.

Within my price range:
Corsair VS450
Fortron FSP500-60APN
LEPA MX-F1 N500-SB-EU

Those ones appear to have good reviews, but I suspect most of them come from very low-end systems.

Apparently it had pretty good load and ripple results for everything you'd want in a budget power supply. Good efficiency too. Proper protections are in place and work. I've never heard of the brand because it seem to be mostly aimed at the EU , but nothing I read scared me at all. No real negatives aside from it being a touch nosier than others under high load (you won't be under high load).

I noticed that XFX XT 500W P1-500B-XTFR was relatively cheap and highly rated, and since I haven't bought a new PSU yet, I ought to ask - would you reccomend me buying this one? It's €43(plus I get free shipping :p), just a few bucks more than the ones I mentioned before.

Made by Seasonic, that is fine.

No it isn't,not all XFX are made by Seasonic. A whole thread about these XFX psu's and it doesn't sound promising,

Maybe you have acces to some Be Quiet psu's? Some other options,

maybe these are available for decent prices. With the Antec you will have to use the power cable (wall->psu) from that new psu (if you can't return it) since it doesn't come with one.

I bet I can go for the P1-450S-X2B9.
Looking at this one I can see no negative reviews, so I guess it's a very decent PSU. It also costs around €50, so it's not that expensive. Still have to go like €15 above planned budget for PSU.
