Is there any way I can cool my CPU without a heat sink type of install?

So I just purchased an i7-7700k and It is going to 75-80c while I am playing games.
I fumbled with installing the intel heat sink from my last processor for I kid you not about three and a half hours until I got it to finally snap in, I want to cool my computer and not damage it over time, but I also dont want to break it in anger trying to install another intel heat sink.

Do I have any working options? I read something about a water cooler but that looked even MORE complicated.

you will need a heat sink, install it with the motherboard out that's always easier. You can also buy ones that scew in the back side takes a little longer but you dont have to deal with the cheap ass press in pins that come with the intel ones.

I did install a heat sink, and applied thermal paste, im looking for something additional or other than a heat sink which will cool the cpu more efficently

Most "good" heat sinks have a much better mounting system than what Intel uses.
Usually there is a metal plate under the motherboard with nuts on it and the heat sink screws onto that.
It's the same with All-In-One (AIO) water coolers, but with those you need to mount the radiators too.

Besides a heatsink proper ventilation in the case can improve thermals(temps) a bit. So making sure the air in the case is moving adequately and in the correct direction can improve temps. Not as much as a good heatsink or water cooler but it can help. Besides that sometimes you can change the fan on the heatsink to improve temps.
