So I have my OS running off an NVMe M.2 ssd and was wondering if removing it and putting it back in to apply a heatsink was okay.

Solution
I don't see why not, so long as you are careful and do it with the unit unplugged from the wall. Probably wouldn't hurt to press the power button down for a few seconds to dissipate any residual charge after unplugging from the socket before removing the drive. Other than that, there's no reason why you shouldn't remove it.
