AMD FX-6300 and GTX 1050ti

On Grand Theft Auto V, on normal settings, some high settings, I am only getting around 30 FPS with an AMD FX 6300 and a GTX 1050ti. I have 8GB of DDR3 RAM in my computer.

I've read some threads on this forum to see if the CPU is bottlenecking GPU and the threads say the two shouldn't bottleneck...but I'm starting to think otherwise.

Is the CPU bottlenecking the GPU here...or am I just not getting the performance I'm supposed to be getting? Any help would be appreciated..

First of all, GTA 5 is a very cpu heavy game for which the 6300 might be struggling, and secondly, there is definitely bottleneck... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OCSzTslVki32BDSlEneeH3zJrTgD5iHe6IsWgbceHcQ/edit#gid=0

So basically you are getting affected by both of those factors.

Thank you. Would you say a Ryzen 5 1500X will work well with the 1050ti and mitigate any bottlenecks in GTAV? I did not see it on the attached spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet was created before Ryzen was launched. The 1500x is definitely much better as it is latest gen. and perfectly capable of driving that card. But remember, it is a different socket architecture and you have to change the entire platform.

Right. Yes, I was planning a full system upgrade soon, so I will upgrade then.

Though, I was monitoring the task manager. The CPU usage stays around 60%, GPU around 30%, though the memory is 90-95%. Specifically in GTA V.

If my CPU isn't near max, is it really what's bottle necking me?
