PC underperforming on World Of Warcraft (Gtx 1050TI & AMD FX-6300)

Hi there guys.

As the title states i'm thinking that my setup is underperforming while on WoW.
I've tried lowering the setting to the lowest but in raids I get 50 fps avg on lowest which to me with my setup seems ridiculous. I've tried with and without OC with the OC giving me a slight fps increase, I can't overclock my GPU as it hasn't got 6 pin and I've literally scoured the internet for hours looking for a solution to no avail. Is there anyone that can possibly help me here? I'm not sure if this the right place to ask about a WoW problem as it seems to be only an issue there.

Few notes to answer any questions and save time:

  • Disabled Addons, small fps increase.
    Reinstalled WoW.
    Tried all settings available.
    Power settings are max.
    V sync is off
There's a few more other things i've done but they were just smal things in hopes they'd work to no avail.

Anyway, if anyone out there can help that would be great.

WoW does NOT run well with it's single threaded performance of FX chips. The game is not optimized for multiple cores and you really suffer when you get into crowded scenes. even an old i5 at 3.0Ghz will far outperform any FX in WoW.

Your FX chip of course is overclockable but won't get you that much relief really, maybe a few frames.

Does it run the same or close to the same with higher graphical settings than low? If so you likely have CPU bottleneck, meaning your fx 6300 is holding back your 1050 ti.

I haven't a clue how CPU intensive later versions of WoW are, however MMO's are generally more CPU demanding then they are GPU demanding.

You should be able to overclock the 1050 ti somewhat even if it does not have a 6 pin. However if I am right about the cpu bottleneck then overcloking the GPU wont do anything for you.

You can use something like MSI afterburner to measure the individual CPU core usage and GPU usage if you want. If under load in game CPU usage on any core is reaching 100% or close to it and your GPU usage all over the place and not at a steady say 95%+ with vsync off then you have a CPU bottleneck for sure.

I don't think I have played WoW with my 7700k, but I know on my i7-4770k major towns were still a kick in the teeth to the CPU. I could easily achieve ludicrous frame rates in dungeons and the general overworld. Large raids were noticeably slower, but still plenty fast. 50FPS is not unreasonable for raiding.

The main thread, which runs on a single core, basically handles the netcode and all the player data handling. Each player position, spell effect radius, armor/damage calculations, etc. It really adds up quickly the number of things the CPU has to do to tell the GPU what to display on the screen.

So basically what you're saying is that I can't do anything bar upgrade my CPU?
And yeah it runs the same regardless of the settings so if you're right then I do have a bottleneck.
Is there anything I can do in that scenario?

You'll need a cpu+mobo+ram upgrade since there is not worhtwile cpu on the am3+ platform.
