I'm gonna put new thermal paste on too

Solution
Yes, if you can't see by removing the other side you you are going to have to pull the motherboard. I'd be sure to ground yourself before you start. You might want to start the computer and let it heat up a little then shut off to make taking the heatsink off the CPU easier.

I use a Q-tip with a little rubbing Alcohol (Isopropyl Alcohol) on it to clean off the old thermal grease. Be sure you remove all of it off the CPU and the heatsink. Then be sure it is dry before applying the new thermal grease. Some use the Pea method I just put a very thin film I can see thru on the CPU heat spreader then put on the fan heatsink.
You could try removing the other side panel on the case and see it allows you to peek under there. But I'm pretty sure you'll have to pop the MB out to see the backside. Be stingy on the thermal paste. More is not better. You only want the bare minimum to fill in the gaps between the CPU and the heaksink.

After 2 hours of doing things I just took off the motherboard and installed the cooler and now have really good temps. I don't recommended my motherboard because to install the cooler I had to hold the back plate and screw the cooler in and it was not fun doing it myself.
