hi guys,
my HD 7970 3gb has finally died, looking to spend about £150 for a new card, what can you suggest that is similar or better? also if spending an extra 20-30 pound gets the next gen up i could stretch to £180

Solution
An HD7970 was rebranded as an R9 280 (the Ghz edition became the 280X)

On that basis, loosely, you're in GTX 960 / GTX 1050TI territory, a decent margin better than an RX 560.

You're looking at loosely comparable, a little better & more efficient with a 1050TI in the ~130GBP range.

OR, step up a bit to a 3GB 1060 for ~180GBP.
