Problem with Dual channel

Hello,

I own G.Skill TridentX F3-2400 (2x4gb) and had no issues so far. They run on Dual channel with no problems at all. Yesterday I found another pair of the TridentX (2x4gb aswell) and they only differ on their native clocks, but I use XMP profile so every stick runs without problem at 2400Mhz and the same clocks.

I noticed that they can't run on Dual Channel no matter what combination i've used. I even removed my old ram/Disabled XMP profiles but they wont run on Dual Channel at all.

Any idea what might be the issue?

Slot #1 and #3 are the new sticks, Slot #2 and #4 are the old sticks which running fine on Dual Channel.

Solution
If using only 2 sticks some MBs want you to put them in slots 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3 - try swapping slots and resetting the BIOS memory settings to default.

Also, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_rank
'Ranks' refers to the configuration of the SMDs on the memory module. To see if you are running in dual channel look at the memory tab in CPU-Z.
You are hitting a limit of the slower memory.
Most MBs can't mix pairs, especially pairs that have different speed ratings, and keep running at maximum performance. Your MB is dropping down into a compatible mode (and even then it might not be entirely stable). If you want to run 4 sticks, in dual channel mode, at maximum capacity, you need to by a 4-stick kit.
Anything else is a crap shoot.

But even if I remove my old sticks the ranks are still shown as Single. Maybe Memory Rank is something else and I confuse it with Dual Channel?

Thanks.
