I recently amassed enough components to upgrade my boyfriend from his [censored] laptop, but my final hurtle is making sure he can connect wirelessly. He tends to want to play in our living room which has no options (not even janky cord setups) for a LAN connection.
The mobo I found had a built in wireless card (pictured below) but I believe I broke it trying to get it out of the case it was originally found in. The wires that were connected to the conduits on top popped off, and the wires that threaded to the front of the case and were taped down also got destroyed. The drivers are up to date as far as I know (the model is recognized and listed as up to date in the device manager) but the only option for connectivity is the bluetooth option.
Another option was to buy a wireless adapter. I have two, but they both fit a PCI slot that he only has one of, which is currently in use by his GPU. My only other option (I think?) is these two slots that I'm unfamiliar with, also pictured below.
(because I just realized the glare and I can't take a new pic, the model is a "Killer Wireless-N1202)
I've done some research and found options like USB adapters which I'd rather avoid if I can plug one into the mobo, but I've also found cards that seem to fit into these smaller ports? If anything I need help troubleshooting the built in wireless card or finding a good adapter which will fit into these black slots that I'm unfamiliar with.
