It has not been too long since i built this rig but I have been experiencing the same problem occasionally. I will either be watching videos online or gaming and occasionally experience the following message on Windows 10 "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart". At other times the computer will shut down but however the led lights on the fans and the fans will still be running. THen i may even get a red blank screen very rarely as well. What could be the cause of this? I have overclocked my computer to 3.7 ghz at 1.2v just in case you need that and it also passed the stress test. I have seen the recommended psu is 750W for r9 280x but i currently only have 550w. Could this be the reason? Here are my specs:

cpu: ryzen 7 1700
gpu: powercolor r9 280x
mobo: msi b350 tomahawk
psu: evga g2 550w
ram: g.skill 4 series 3000 mhz running at 2800 mhz
operating system: windows 10 professional
ssd: crucial mx300 275 gb 2.5"
HDD: WD 7200 rpm 1 TB
peripherals: g502 logitech mouse, razer kraken 7.1 chroma headset, reddragon mechanical keyboard
monitor : HP 27 inch

like what @soulja mentioned. a vcore of 1.2V maybe too low. a unstable clock can cause your system to shutdown as well. either too high or too low clock speeds being generated. but then again 1.2V also sounds normal to me.

if youre worried about losing your overclock settings. i do hope your BIOS supports saving oC profiles. so you can load it again after default.

also recheck your RAM sticks. do a 1day test. test with 1 RAM stick for the whole day of gaming. and do the other one. it may pass your memtest86. but it never hurts to try. some boards are just incompatible with some RAM.

What's the error code?

My first guess is an unstable overclock. 1.2V seems a little low for 3.7 unless you have a godly chip. Could be anything though if we don't know the code.

Also 550w is fine for a 280x, and the PSU you have is good.

sounds like a driver problem. have you checked your event viewer logs? press winkey+s. type event viewer. custom views. administrative. check to see if there are errors on a 1min timespan during the times your computer shuts down.

go to you motherboards support site. and check if you may need to update some drivers.
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-TOMAHAWK

if you cannot find any errors, most likely its a hardware issue. you may be experience overheating on either the CPU/GPU. check your temps. try also resetting your bios to optimized defaults to check if its your OC settings. you can re-enable XMP if possible.

check these first so we can narrow down your problems.
