NVME SSD to USB for data recovery. Can this be done? HAS it been done yet?

Has anyone successfully adapted an NVME SSD to USB ( for the purposes of data recovery ) by using an M-Key to U.2 converter, then converting the U.2 to mSATA, and then converting the mSATA to USB? Do not have another machine to put the NVME into to get the data, so looking for ways to accomplish this, here, and today or tomorrow.

I have read a number of threads, all unsuccessful, but wonder if this has been accomplished by now.

New Alienware laptop died before I could get everything installed, ( including back up software ) and there are some files that I absolutely need to get to.

Thanks.

i have a m.2 sata to usb 3.0 adapter with uasp. i tried testing it before and it works. at least i know i can use this, when my motherboard fails and i can recover data from it. just make sure the one you are buying supports sata 3 as well. im not sure if nvme would work on older sata adapters tho. even tho i know its backwards compatible. if it does, its most likely will be in bottlenecked speeds. but at least it works. and u dont need the uasp feature tho. you can also look for the m.2 ngff sata adapters. dont buy it if it doesnt say its nvme tested. and also you can try just buying a nvme to ssd adapater/enclosure. and buy a separate sata to usb adapter to attach them together.

Thank you for the response. So I am clear - You have actually tried this with a NVME SSD in that, and it worked?

Further clarification - I do not care about speed. At all. I care about accessing a handful of files that were created in the time between first boot and failure that are valuable to me. It would be worth my spending $100 on. After that, I would not need it ever again. In fact, the drive will have to be returned to Dell/Alienware.

Thanks.

i dont think you can buy this product outside my country tho. its japanese and this coimpany doesnt do exports. rofl. it looks like a mini motherboard. pretty crude product. like i said. ONLY buy the ones that says NVME tested. im sure yo can find one in your area. im just saying its possible and there are products out there.

here just to give you an idea. you need something to convert from pcie to usb

then from there you can get a nvme to pcie which is very common and easy to find.
