Hello everyone, I need your help.

First of all I'm sorry for any possible grammar mistake in my message, I am not a native speaker.

As I typed in the question, do they contain Mercury for example? Please describe which component contain what hazardous substance.

Thank you.

Nothing produced in the last 20 years on an electronics level contains hazardous substances as such.

You may find small traces of weak acid based solutions inside capacitors and obviously a lithium cell battery (used on the board to keep BIOS settings) contains lithium which is in essence toxic in high levels but is also used for medicinal purposes.

The only way you could define hazardous really with modern electronics is possibly as a choking hazard with small board components if a youngster decided to swallow something & the chance of electrocuting yourself if you mess with somethimg you shouldn't.

New or old components? Old hardware has lead based solder. CRTs have lead in them. Florescent lighted flat panels have mercury in them.

Your question is too generic. If you have some specific components there might be more specific answers.

Hello kanewolf, thanks for your interest in the topic.

What made me ask this question is that a short time ago I had decided to clean my computer. I did it but I was suspicious if I damaged somethings inside of it. I heard there are hazardous substances inside those components so I wanted to learn more about this. My knowledge about computers is pretty limited.

Components inside my computer are
Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L Motherboard
Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT Graphics Card
Kingston Ram
Toshiba 500GB HDD

Hi madmatt30, thank you for your answer. It helped me understand what might be on that component.

Thanks kanewolf for the links, I checked them. Learning about RoHS helped me. I'll search the same for the other components.
